Sunbird Spark Challenge #56 – Holiday Moodboard

Hello and welcome back crafty friends!

We loved seeing your sketch-inspired projects over the past month, thank you so much to all of those who participated in Challenge #55!

Now, onto Sunbird Spark Challenge #56! This month we have a fun holiday inspired moodboard for our inspiration. Don’t forget to link your projects below for your chance to win a gift card to the shop!

I started by using the Modular Maze 3D Embossing Folder to emboss the front half of my top-folding card base. I also embossed a smaller piece of gold foil cardstock and adhered it to my card base, lining it up at the top to fit directly with the embossed pattern underneath. I added a strip of black glitter cardstock to cover the seam and add some interest.

Next, I stamped and white heat-embossed a sentiment from Magical Christmas Sentiments onto some green cardstock and fussy cut it out. I adhered my sentiment to the card using foam tape, and just like that I have a clean and simple–but very shiny–holiday card to add to my stash!

We love seeing your creations and would love for you to join us in this month’s challenge! All you have to do to enter is use the challenge color palette to create a project. Full challenge rules can be found here.

Sunbird Spark Challenge #55 – Sketch

Hello and welcome back crafty friends!

We loved seeing your spooky-inspired projects over the past month, thank you so much to all of those who participated in Challenge #54!

Unfortunately, we didn’t have quite enough participants to declare a winner, but we really want to thank you so much for participating in Challenges #53 & 54 .

Now, onto Sunbird Spark Challenge #55! This month we have a simple sketch to get your creativity flowing. Don’t forget to link your projects below for your chance to win a gift card to the shop!

For today’s card, I started by blending my background directly onto my card base. I used some post-it tape to mask off the bottom 2/3 of the card base and blended the top portion with Distress Oxide inks in Shaded Lilac, Tumbled Glass, and Peacock Feathers. Then, I used Barrel A from Flurry Snowflakes Stencils 360°™ to sporadically blend a few snowflakes overtop using Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet.

Next, I stamped and colored the skier image from Most Wonderful Time and diecut it out with the coordinating dies. I adhered it to my card toward the top right, and finished it off with a sentiment from Greetings from Santa.

We love seeing your creations and would love for you to join us in this month’s challenge! All you have to do to enter is use the challenge sketch to create a project. Full challenge rules can be found here.

This month’s challenge runs until November 29th at 11:59 PDT. We’ll select a winner to receive a gift certificate to sunbirdspark.com from challenge #55 and #56 which will be announced on January 1st at the beginning of challenge #57!

Sunbird Spark Challenge #54 – Halloween Moodboard

Hello and welcome back crafty friends!

We loved seeing your sketch-inspired projects over the past month, thank you so much to all of those who participated in Challenge #53!

Now, onto Sunbird Spark Challenge #54! This month we have a fun Halloween inspired color palette for you! Don’t forget to link your projects below for your chance to win a gift card to the shop!

The colors of this palette inspired me to pull out an old medium – gelatos! I used them to blend a background over some cardstock covered in gesso. I knew I wanted to keep the card very clean and simple, so I diecut the new Cheerful YAY stand-alone die from an A2 piece of black cardstock.

I repeated this a couple more times, and stacked my diecuts together to create additional dimension. Then, I glued my stacked diecut onto my background panel and adhered this down to my card base. Finally, I finished the card off with some sparkly embellishments!

We love seeing your creations and would love for you to join us in this month’s challenge! All you have to do to enter is use the challenge [sketch/color palette] to create a project. Full challenge rules can be found here.

Sunbird Spark Challenge #53 – Sketch

Hello and welcome back crafty friends!

We loved seeing your shine-inspired projects over the past month, thank you so much to all of those who participated in Challenge #52!

Congratulations to our Challenge #51-52 winner, Leanne S, please feel free to grab and display your winner badge which can be found on the righthand column (or at the bottom of the page on mobile)!

Now, onto Sunbird Spark Challenge #53! This month we have another fun sketch to inspire your creativity. Don’t forget to link your projects below for your chance to win a gift card to the shop!

I started by using the Timeless Tulips Press Plates to create my focal point. I pressed it onto white cardstock with holographic foil, instead of throwing away the piece of foil that had been pressed, I heated it on my foil machine using a flat metal sheet and pressed it through onto black cardstock to create a “reverse” foil. I then cut this out with the coordinating die and offset it on top of another white diecut to give it extra dimension.

Next, I created the background from black cardstock using the Diamond Dusk 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it onto my card base. I used the Dynamic Dotted Chevron Cover Die to cut a small piece of holographic cardstock which I adhered to the bottom of the card on a slant. I also added a strip of glitter cardstock before adhering down my tulip focal point. Finally, I finished the card off with a sentiment from Flourish Boldly, and added some embellishments.

We love seeing your creations and would love for you to join us in this month’s challenge! All you have to do to enter is use the challenge sketch to create a project. Full challenge rules can be found here.

This month’s challenge runs until September 29th at 11:59 PDT. We’ll select a winner to receive a gift certificate to sunbirdspark.com from challenge #53 and #54 which will be announced on November 1st at the beginning of challenge #55!

Sunbird Spark Challenge #52 – Make it Shine

Hello and welcome back crafty friends!

We loved seeing your sketch-inspired projects over the past month, thank you so much to all of those who participated in Challenge #51!

Now, onto Sunbird Spark Challenge #52! Today is extra exciting because I’m using some products from the new release! There are so many fun and beautiful products, but our challenge is inspired by the new press plates. Don’t forget to link your projects below for your chance to win a gift card to the shop!

I started by using the Timeless Tulips Press Plates and pressed it onto white cardstock with gold foil, instead of throwing away the piece of foil that had been pressed, I heated it on my foil machine using a flat metal sheet and pressed it through to create a “reverse” foil. I then cut this out with the coordinating die.

I created my background by die-cutting the new Dynamic Dotted Chevron Cover Die from some metallic gold cardstock. Before I glued it down to my card base, I diecut the center with one of the Bellezza Frames Nested Dies. I cut the same frame from some white cardstock which I inlayed into the center of my metallic cardstock to create a diecut inlay background. Next, I gold heat-embossed a sentiment from Flourish Boldly onto a sentiment strip and finished off the card by adhering my diecut flower, sentiment strip, and some sequins onto the card.

We love seeing your creations and would love for you to join us in this month’s challenge! All you have to do to enter is use the challenge theme “make it shine” to create a project. Full challenge rules can be found here.

This month’s challenge runs until August 30th at 11:59 PDT. We’ll select a winner to receive a gift certificate to sunbirdspark.com from challenge #51 and #52 which will be announced on September 1st at the beginning of challenge #53!
